Spin the Wheel

Show Action Equipment

“Spin the Wheel” was a game show that aired on Fox in 2019. It featured a 40′ wheel oriented almost vertically with a ball that bounced on pegs similar to a roulette wheel found in most casinos. During gameplay, the contestant grabs one of the pegs peg close to the stage and “spins” the wheel. To overcome the inertial, the wheel motion is augmented by a connected motor, located behind the wheel and not visible to the audience or cameras.

Apollo contracted with the wheel designer, Mendenhall Smith Structural Engineers (now IMEG) to design and build the motor sled assembly. It interfaced with the system using a tire on a friction surface connected to the circumference of the show wheel. Our sled provided for adjustable engagement load and angle.
